Steve your work with Death in Human and Individual Thought Patterns has influenced me towards bass playing in death metal. I'm planning on gettin a fretless warwick as soon as i sell my 5 string ibanez. My favorite songs for bass are "Suicide Machine", "Lack of Comprehension", "Nothing is Everything", "Individual Thought Patterns", and "The Philosopher">that i can play head to toe. but i'm tryin to find the music for "Nothin is Everything".

Hi! I heard two songs from the next Quo Vadis album... it's awesome and it seems to be their best album since the beginning. Like I said before, everytime you play with a band, you make their best album (not kidding). I hope I'll see you (again) soon with Testament : ) See ya!!!!!!

Damn, don't mean to kiss your ass, but you've gotta be one of the most varied musicians (not just bassists) I can think of. Saw that Test/Violence show on DEC 27TH '02. One of the most godly shows I can remember. Saw Dragonlord at Seattle Metalfest in Aug '03...I can't remember (fuckin retarded question, I know) but were you playing that show. Couldn't tell anybody but Petersen with all the Corpsepaint, and armor, and shit. Killer show, the new Dragonlord song slayed. As well as everybody else, I'm really stoked about the new Testament album, as well as seeing you fuckers up at Seattle Metal Fest this year w/ Death Angel (again). Just found out about the site, wish I new about this page sooner. This might be obvious, but I really appreciate this Bay Area comeback!!! Keep all them bands down there thrashing, so they can come up here and thrash!!!

My father and I are great fans of yours, especially your work in Dark Hall. I understand it may no longer be possible to buy either the Solace demo or the untitled (1995) demo from you. With my father's 50th birthday quickly approaching I would love to be able to give him these cds, and due to the construction being done to mp3.com I have not been able to find many of these songs online. If you have any suggestions as to where I might find your Dark Hall demos (preferably in the Baltimore area, or somewhere I could mail an order to, possibly to you in CA if the information at darkhall.tk was incorrect?) please e-mail me. Thank you ~forever a fan, Carolyn

Hey Steve, this is Bruces' friend Robert from Roseburg, Oregon. We met at the titty bar. I'm the one that you asked if I could bring down a couple songs etc. I am gathering up the funds to get there and you said you would handle the rest making it happen.Bruce says hi and the music store, Hi-5 is surviving. When will you be back up this way? You have a place to stay when you come up. You can use this e-mail addy, it is another friends. Do you know anybody that is into baseball memorablia such as game used balls. That would help with my fund raising if I could sell some.Too many old school players sinatures to list but there are some hall of famers.

Hey dude.... My name is Shawn and I'm the new bassist for Avenger of Blood. I just thought I'd message you to let you know what a huge influence you are on me. When Shannon (fryeguy haha) told me that he knew you I was like holy shit! I missed meeting you twice when you came to Vegas with Testament. It'll be awesome when I finally get to meet ya. I just read your thingy on speed techniques for the right hand and those are great practices. Most of those I already practice with. Heh, it's hard playing thrash/death metal with your fingers. I figured hell, if you could do it, then it's possible... so I can too! Haha, I haven't touched a pick in almost 2 years and it's been great. Keep up the great bass playing man. -Shawn P.S. Hey buddy, do me a favor and tab out Destiny (Death) and send it to me, hehe. I love the bass lines in that song!

Hi Steve, How are you doing, like everybody else i have to say that i like your style of playing bass,in this way also i want to send my condolences for the loss of a very good friend and guitarplayer "ChucK" i am a bassplayer to. Now i gonna record a cd with Helena Iren Michaelsen " Imperia ". I am looking for some tips. How i can hold the fresh sound in my strings? I play on Dr strings, but i loose the clarity in the strings very fast. Everytime i have to buy new ones, even before the old ones break, it's fucking expencive. By result i have a lot of strings liying arounf from 18 years of playing. I want to use them untill they break. I cut also a piece of my strings before i put them on my bass, because they are very long, is that a wise decision? Please can you give me some tips. I hope you can help me out with some tips. Sincerly, Gerry

What do you think about Tony Choy (Cynic, Pestillence, Atheist)? Have you heard a pastillence song, called: Soulless? :))) The three bass guitar master (i think) today is you, Sean Malone, and Tony. And don't forget about Roger Patterson! I think you are metal gods! Thank you for your music you make!:) When will you come to Hungary with Sadus? Or near my country for e.g. wein? And what will be with the second control denied album? Keep the metal faith alive! Bye!

Hi Steve. You are a great inspiration to me too!!!It is not only your playing being so virtuos(ing) and your ideas with the fretless base so beautifull,it is that amazing sound you manage dude!Anyway i think your best performances were in any disk chuck was involved.WHY???Cause he was also a music genius!!I heard you are coming to GREECE with SADUS.You wont get away man....I will find you and .....chat with you for a while...I wonder if you (and where) have studied the base.I believe you are a bit of self-trained in many ways...So do I!!!Anyway you know you are one of the best base players in the world you don't need me to tell you that. What about the new CONTROL DENIED man.Remember that you owe it to your metal-brother...What do you also think about SEAN MALONE (cynic, gordian knot,aghora...)?See you in athens man....

Hi Steve! Thanks for taking time to autograph my Control Denied and Testament CD's as well as chatting a bit after the Testament gig in Oslo, Norway at RockIn on July 30th. You guys simply tore the place apart! There are loads of bands that play fast and furious, but none matches the brutal precision and melodic abilities of Testament, of that I'm sure! Well, finally did I see the band I've managed to miss the only two times they've played in Norway since '87, (shame on me, I know) and now YOU are playing with them! Could it possibly get any better? I see in the bio area of Testaments website that you like Rush's Signals (and probably other albums?) I greatly admire Geddy Lee for his abilities on the bass guitar, but you're a major badass on the instrument yourself! Fretless 5-string bass (Hey, it's a Carvin!) in a metal band is interesting, and you know the guy playing it is not content just backing the others... Maybe I'll get autographs from Chuck, Eric and the rest of the gang the next time Testament comes back to Norway. I'll make sure not to miss that gig!!! till then, cheers! Hi!! I first have to say this, Your bass playing is incredible. I'm a guitar player. (i also play bass. i took a year of Stand Up lessons in school.) And you have re-kindled my love for playing bass. I'd love to know what your influences are. I am also a huge fan of Chuck Schuldiner and i think your bass playing as with his guitar playing together was unmatched. (Actually. i live just a few miles where Scream Bloody Gore was recorded.ha.) Thanks for taking any time to read this. Your fan, Kurt.

Hello!!! If you are into technical Death Metal in the vein of old ATHEIST, NOCTURNUS, old CYNIC, GORGUTS, DEATH CARCASS, or PESTILENCE make sure to get your hands on this new release by Polish SCEPTIC! The band consists of extremely talented musicians, delivers eight very complex own compositions (+ intro), as well as a perfectly executed cover of the old NOCTURNUS track 'Arctic Crypt' (from the recently re-issued "Thresholds" album). While many other technical acts are often too much concerned about their weird song structures and individual playing abilities, SCEPTIC don't forget about the actual brutality of this genre. That results in some very devastating material which (because of all its little bits and pieces) never gets boring at all and (mainly because of the raw vocals) still comes across very aggressive sounding. SCEPTIC guitarist Jacek Hiro (who's also involved in DIES IRAE and DECAPITATED) formed SCEPTIC with drummer extra ordinare Maciek Zieba back in 1995. Three demos and another full length album ("Blind Existence", 1999) were released prior to "Pathetic Being", the band hooked up with VADER's management and already played on the most important festivals in their home country. I invite you to site www.sceptic.metal.pl Please visit Sceptic website, download video & sign the guestbook!! Keep the force of metal going my friends!! PLEASE SUPPORT SCEPTIC!!! STAY BRUTAL !!! METAL RULES !!!

Steve, wanted to drop by to give you a big "hell yeah". I busted out my Sadus collection and was rockin in my car the other day trying to sing "Throwing Away the Day". My throat collapsed as I tried to mimmick Darren, and almost puked. I gained control of the vehicle and everything is ok. ;) I wish you had an online store to some albums I've missed. I've got Chemical Exposure, Swallowed in Black, and Vision of Misery. You rock man. Can't wait to hear any stuff from you that I haven't yet. Latah.

Hi!! My name is Manav Gandhi and I am from India. I am Your Biggest fan on this planet for sure and you guys have no idea that how much I respect you all as you are one of my Biggest Inspiration in Music.. I'm a Guitar Player and also the India Review Editor for Stationplay.com {The #1 site for a serious Gamer} too and to tell you the truth, I can try playing Thrash, Instrumental, Rock, Jazz, Funk, a liitle bit of Death Metal,etc.,.. but when I heard your albums for the first time, believe IT or not, I was totally blown off as your songs are truly incredible which is needless to say and I find it almost impossble to play them. Steve DiGiorgio + Darren Travis + Jon Allen ="MUSIC". That's the Bottomline and Just wanna let you guys know that You all Rule. Keep on creating "HIStory" guys as I believe that someone somwhere on this planet is always Listening to your Music.I like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Richie Kotzen, Flotsam and Jetsam, Marty Friedman, Vinnie Moore, Eric Johnson, James Murphy, Iron Maiden, John Mc Laughlin, Al Di Meola, Paco De Lucia, Michael Jackson, Madonna, etc.,..!!!!!!!! I Luv Music as that's why I believe that I'm still Alive. In India, you cannot play Death, Thrash, etc., as you have to earn your living in order to survive but still, as long as I'm alive, I always was, am & will be your Biggest fan ever. Finally, I would like to ask for a BIG Favor, i.e., If you guys can send to me an Autographed Picture, a Pick, or anything, I will feel honoured and will Cherish IT forever until I sleep.. Waiting desperately for your kind reply/feedback in anticipation {and Your new Album too} and keep up the Good Job. Let there be "SADUS"{MUSIC}.. Gotta Go now as it's time to play Guitar.. Anyway, there is a big favor which I wanted to ask for being your #1 Fan in this Universe, i.e., If in a 6-String Guitar when Tuned in a Standard Format [E,B,G,D,A,E], If we Strum the Guitar form top to bottom or bottom to top without holding any string or a Chord, the Chord formed is G6, but Let's say that If we take an Ibanez Universe Model [The 7-String Guitar] and tune IT in the Format of A,B,C,D,E,F,G starting from bottom to top or top to bottom and then just Strum IT without holding any String or a Chord, Then which Chord will IT be or Sound Like One?? I know how this Question of mine sounds to you all but still I have even asked Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Richie Kotzen, etc.,.. but got no Reply. I'm really Curious to know as in my Country, there is no one to take help 4ROM. I will Really Appreciate IT if you "GODS OF MUSIC", can Answer my Query as there is some theory/technique/style on which I have been working out for the Past 8-13 Years and the whole outcome of IT Depends on IT. I recently bought Deaths "Individual Thought Patterns" and after a few listens I realized that I needed to say that Steve is a bass player who actually deserves recognition. Any band lucky enough to have him play with them should consider themselves, well, lucky. Listen to his work in Death, Testament, Dragonlord, Iced Earth, or anything else that he may have played in and tell you aren't knocked on your ass by his playing. If I were to make a list of the top 5 bass players, It would be Steve Harris(Iron Maiden), Geezer Butler(Black Sabbath), Jusin Chancellor(Tool), Jimmy Bain(Dio), and of course, the great Steve Digiorgio!

I just hoped that all the bands exhisting would give a greater credit to artists like you and Schuldiner. HELLO AND A VERY SINCERE REQUEST FOR STEVE. Hi Steve...love ya love all of your fuckin' work man -- one of my very favorites and still one of the VERY BEST!! I am writing to ask what the possibility might be (IF a possibility even exists)...if I were to send off a self-addressed stamped envelope and a blank piece of like 8x11 paper, and maybe even a buck or two...if you might "consider" just personlizing the paper to me (To Joe...bla bla bla bla..from Steve DiGiorgio) Might this be possible man? Something like this would mean so much to me and I would love to put this into a glass frame and into my collection. I would be so appreciative of this and as I stated above I would be happy to enclose everything you would need. If you might be kind enough to consider this....please drop me a quick email if you have a few seconds at johnnyangel94@aol.com Maybe I'll hear from ya Steve...but if not, thanks for even reading my posting here. Sincerely -- Joe - "genuine" Steve fan

Steve, I just wanted to say I REALLY like your site and it had alot of information that was very interesting to me, as a bass player and just in general learning. I'm also really glad to see a bass player out there really doing something for the instrument, I've only been playing about 5 years but I definatly try and expand on the bass and try and push the boundaries, I just wish I was at your level of playing (or Victor Wootens, hah!) It's cool to see you in so many bands, I definatly model myself in many ways after you (though not trying to clone you, I still try to be me), I try to play with as many bands as possible (Thirty Year Reign, Laughing Out Loud, Bludgeon, Baby Meat and a Sabbath tribute band), but sometimes I don't really feel worthy, especially when I'm hearing a greta bass player like yourself play, I just feel insignificant! I know your super busy, but one of these days I'm going to meet you and DEMAND some bass lessons from you! Well best of luck to your music and your family! I'll be there supporting you all the way! I started in music in 1988 listening Sadus, then i found Destructio, Sodom, Kreator, Death, Testament, Slayer et all. I agree with retro-trash and you are been all the time trashers as hell. Could you come to my little country COSTA RICA (in Central America)there are a lot of people who likes metal music like in Mexico, your projects and bands rules Sadus, Control Denied (w/ Schuldinner), the band of James (Disincarnate)and DEATH, I own all titles of these bands and all this 12 years that I´ve heard metal music I prefer the Trash and Death Metal, because is authentic not like last fashioned Black Metal and Melodic Death bands. Steve is the metal bassist for the 2000's ! It is because of you, dude, that metal bassists can take pride in their playing now, instead of walking in the guitarists shadow. You've given us something to chew on, something to inspire. I'm bassist / vocalist for Threnody, metal band, influenced by lot of other stuff too. Elements of Anger : that's set a new standard for metal bass. I wish I could get that sound. To you, I take a deep bow and wish you all the success in your future projects. One more thing : are rumours of the Sadus split true ? Anways, here's too a lot more bottom end pulsing havoc from you, Steve. Cheers !

(IN A ROB SCHNEIDER VOICE) STEVE, STEVO, STEVEORAMA THE MAN WITH BASS PLAYING THE SOLOS LIKE NOBODY CAN! STEVE WHERE DID ALL THE FRETS GO???? LOL
HEY WASSUP I WAS DRAWN TO SADUS BY STEVE'S TOTALLY COOL BASS PLAYING. HE DOES LOTS OF FILLS AND INTROS, BUT SO FEW BASSIST CAN SOLO LIKE HE CAN! THE ONLY OTHERS THAT COME TO MIND ARE GEEZER BUTLER, STEVE HARRIS, CLIFF BURTON, JOHN MYUNG, AND BILLY SHEENAN. BETTER YET, TONY FRANKLIN, IS THE ONLY OTHER FRETLESS BASSIST I HAVE SEEN IN METAL. SUCH A RARE THING.
STEVE IS DEVERSE FROM PLAYING FAST HEAVY MELODIC METAL LIKE IN SADUS, DEATH, AND TESTAMENT TO DOING JAZZ WITH DARK HALL. WHERE IS JOHN ZORN? HAVE TO HOOK UP ON AN ALBUM! NOT MANY PEOPLE ARE AS DIVERSE OR TALENTED IN MUSIC AS STEVE IS.
NOW THAT I HAVE BUILT UP HIS EGO, I MUST TEAR IT DOWN! LOL!!! JUST KIDDING!! THERE IS NOTHING TO TEAR DOWN WITH SUCH A COOL GUY. HAD FUN HANGING WITH YA STEVE IN CHICAGO, TAKE CARE. WISH ME LUCK SINCE THE OPERA SEASON OF 2000-2001 IS STARTING! THE FOURTH TENOR
